Mathisen, Raymond Allen age 93, of Erlanger, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 5, 1930 to Erling and Mildred Mathisen (nee Bendicson).
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Mathisen (nee Rios), son-in-law, Jon Joy and daughter, Janet Iatridis. Raymond is survived by his beloved children, Donald (Karen) Mathisen of Gulfport, Mississippi and Yvonne Joy of Florence, Kentucky; son-in-law, Matt Iatridis of Woodstock, New York; grandchildren, Christina (Eric Murphy) Joy of Lexington, Kentucky, Steven (Kat) Mathisen of Newport, Kentucky, Michael Iatridis of Ohio and Anthea Iatridis of Florence, Kentucky; and a host of other family members and friends.
Raymond attended Fort Hamilton High School, in Brooklyn where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Mathisen. They married in 1952 and moved to Victorville, CA where they were blessed with their first daughter, Yvonne Joy. After their time in California they ventured back to Hudson Valley Region where they spent most of their lives and were blessed with their son, Donald Mathisen and daughter, Janet Iatridis. Raymond served in the US Naval Reserves from 1948-1950 and then in the Air Force from 1950-1954. The family traveled a lot while Raymond was serving in the United States Air Force. At the time of Barbara's passing in 2018 they had been wed 66 wonderful years.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
