Our dearest Rena M. Bell departed this life on July 29, 2013. She was born on November 19, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio to her parents, Maylon & Mary Curtis, both of who preceded her in death. After graduating Taft High School and completing her computer education & technical training, Rena went on to launch her career with The Cincinnati Bell Company, where she retired after 32 years of faithful service.
In 1969, Rena married the love of her life, Mr. Charles "Billy" Bell and to that union was born one beloved daughter, Charnetta (Bell) Porche'. Faith in GOD, marriage, love, commitment are the vital ingredients that kept Rena alive and thriving during life's most difficult seasons. Thank GOD for Robbin, who coached & helped us care for mom. As roles reversed and destiny unfolded, it was both, Charnetta and her father who also cared for Rena, together. "I watched Dad, love, nurture, and care for my mother, like non-other. He is mom's faithful hero, and she was very proud of him, my daddy. After 44 years of marriage, he still remained "THE ONE".
Mrs. Rena Bell accepted the Lord, as her savior, in 1992, and never departed from Faith. She loved GOD and cherished seasons of devoted ministry in her life. Some speak of her as: The laughing Prophet at True Holiness Church of GOD, others knew her as Mother of the church, even before she officially joined "The Mother Board". Mom battled cancer for 10 plus years. She never asked: Why me? She always asked: Why not me, as Jesus Christ suffered for me & all of us. Thus, she loved her relationships with her medical staff: nurses, doctors, care teams. She once told her physician: "YOU need to take a photo of me, so when I die, you will remember me". The very next visit he did just that.
Rena possessed a "NO Stranger" spirit. She didn't meet strangers; she quickly converted them to friends. If you thought, you were a stranger, you found yourself wrapped - enveloped in a hug & big love. She had a special affection for youth and young people, so she launched and mentored a group of girls she called "Positive Identity" (PIs). She decided to include her eight nieces in this mentoring, as her aim was to develop them into positive independent God-fearing young ladies. Mom called herself, slow in understanding, but her actions and mouth often declared otherwise as she was quick witted and wise in dealings. God gave her supernatural abilities and wisdom that she herself, did not realize until later in life.
Rena leaves to cherish her memory: a loving devoted husband, Charles Bell, one beloved daughter, Charnetta Bell Porche', one grand-daughter, Faythe Bell, four sisters: Geraldine (Edward) White, Marilyn Washington, Mary Burgess, Elnora (Tyrone) Johnson, Garland (Sharon) Curtis, Special nieces: Robbin Cunningham, Tylin Anderson, and Latasha Bell. And a host of more nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. YOU are loved & will be greatly missed.
