Rita Mason-Stewart, the daughter of the late Robert Mason and Margaret Jones-Mason, was born on August 6, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the youngest of 16 children. Rita accepted Christ in her life at an early age at New Life Baptist Church and later joined Tryed Stone New Beginning Church.
She attended grade school and high school in the North College Hill School District where she excelled academically and athletically. She played baseball and ran track for the school. She often told stories of her hitting home runs and being one of the fastest runners on her track team.
Rita worked at Bethesda Hospital and attended Cincinnati Technical College (Cincinnati State) prior to discontinuing work due to her health. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed playing cards. She was a very direct person and would voice her opinion to let others know how she felt about a situation. Her friends would often call upon her for advice. She inspired others to stand up for righteousness.
After a long battle with illness, Rita answered her eternal calling on January 10, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory: seven children, Robert W. Tuggle (Dorothy), Jennifer M. Tuggle, Diamond D. Tuggle, Jerome K. Tuggle, Gregory Stewart (Donna), Marty J. Stewart, Adrian D. Stewart (Dorese), sister, Mary A. Freeland, ex-husband/friend George C. Stewart. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
