Robert Alonzo Cannon was born on July 29, 1931 in Greensboro, Alabama to Melnea Waller and Tom A. Cannon, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict, receiving such honors as: 4 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Distinguished Unit Citation. Following service discharge, he earned his GED and began employment with the U. S. Postal Service from which he retired on August 1, 1986.
Robert was well-read and quite knowledgeable about historical as well as current events. As a result of his military travels he became quite fluent in several languages.
He leaves to cherish his memory: 5 brother, 4 sisters and their families and a host of other family members and friends.
