Robert Lee Averhart was born September 22, 1943 in Mobile (Minter), Alabama. Robert was an only child born to Minnie Bell Sumler and Sherman Carmichael. Robert gave his life to Christ at an early age. Robert departed this earthly life on July 5, 2020 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Robert worked for the City of Mobile, Alabama before coming to Cincinnati in 1989 (approximately). Robert worked as a welder helper to EnerFab for 18+ years before retiring in 2008.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory son, F.J. Averhart - Atlanta; daughter, Joann Moore (Andrew) - Mobile, Alabama; son, Lambert Averhart (Aurelia) - Killeen, Texas; former wife, Rose McQueen; stepdaughter, Rosalyn Burns French (Michael); stepdaughter, Lashawnda Barnett; stepson, Randy Burns; favorite aunts, Betty Jean and Geraldine Jackson both of Florida, Valerie Jackson - Cincinnati; uncles, Freeman Jackson and Willie James Coleman both of Cincinnati; cousins living in Syracuse, New York; Birmingham, Alabama; Selma, Alabama; Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Cleveland, Ohio; Seattle, Washington; lifelong neighbors Rick, Mrs. Asha Monghan - co-workers at EnerFab; close friend of 29 years, Carolyn Burns; host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by mother, Minnie Sumler; daughter, (Kitty) Linda Allen Jackson; cousin, Janie Stokes; aunt, Janie Coleman; and friend, Claudia Barnett.
Robert enjoyed fishing, traveling, flea markets, collecting stamps, working and building with wood, which he was good at as a hobby. He loved listening to jazz and blues, playing dominoes. He also loved gardening.
