Robert Boyd Sr.

December 29, 1924 — March 23, 2012

Robert L. Boyd was born on February 29, 1924 in Cincinnati, the son of the late Hattie Fanning Boyd and Otis Boyd, Sr. He departed this life on March 23, 2012 at his home.

He received Christ at an early age and was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church. He married Ida Lee Thornton Boyd in August 16, 1952 who preceded him in death. To this union two children were born, Robert L. Boyd, Jr., and Gary Boyd.

Robert was a World War II veteran and served overseas. After completing his tour he received an honorable discharge.
He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service and was a Mason for over 50 years; a member of the St. John Lodge #3.
Robert was preceded in death by his brothers Otis, Oscar, Theophilos, and Morris; and sister Charlotte.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons Robert L. Boyd, Jr. (Gail), Gary Boyd; grandchildren Michael Johnson, Robert Leon Boyd III, Paul Benjamin Boyd, and Jillian Boyd; sisters Emma McCullough of Waukegan, IL, Ruby Carroll, Beverly Hills, California; brothers William Boyd (Juanita), James Boyd, Clifford Boyd (Charlene); one sister-in-law Mattie Boyd, and a host of other relatives and friends.
