Robert E. Hill Jr. age 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. Peacefully, in his sleep at his home.
Robert was born in Cromwell, Alabama on May 31, 1933 to the late Robert E. Hill Sr. and Lucy Mae Kennedy (nee Bell). Robert was the oldest of two.
Robert joined the U.S. Army in 1955. Where served as a Combat Engineer. Robert was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army in 1963. Robert was a very modest and humble man. Upon returning home from active duty (transferred into the reserves) in 1958, Robert took a job as the school bus driver for Choctaw County Schools. In trade for getting his high school diploma. During this time, he met Sallie Mae Tyson.
Robert and Sallie married on June 30, 1959 in Butler, AL. They moved to Cincinnati, OH soon after. After moving to Cincinnati, Robert began working for Tom Sweeney car dealership as a mechanic and Marion Merrell Dow company in Reading,OH (Third Shift) during this time as well. Robert was always a hard working man.
The following year (1960) Robert and Sallie welcomed their first child, Charlene. Followed by Ronald, the late Travis and Bryant. Robert also started working.
Robert became a member of Greater Liberty Missionary Baptist Church where he was very active and served on several committees until his health would not allow.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his Wife, Sallie M. Hill , Son, Travis P. Hill, Brother, Bobby C. Hill, Sister, Willie Ethel Smith (nee Hill), Brother, Tyre Hill.
Robert is survived by his Children, Daughter, Charlene Hill, Son, Ronald L. (Kelly) Hill, Son, Bryant E. Hill, Daughter-In-Law, Manetta Hill, Step-Granddaughter, Jennifer McNeal, Granddaughter, Monica R. Hill, Granddaughter, Nicole L. (Jeff) Grimm, Granddaughter, Alexis R. Hill, Great Granddaughter, Mattie J. Scaife, Great Granddaughter, Brooklyn N. Grimm, Great Grandson, Matthew A. Grimm, Great Grandson, Jordan J. Grimm, Great Grandson, Darius Bell Jr., Brother, Ewell (Edna) Kennedy, Step Sister, Vanessa (Taylor) Ridgeway, Step Sister, Jacqueline (Taylor) Moore, Jackie Taylor; and a host of other family members and friends.
In loving memory of Robert, contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association. Funeral Ceremony will be 7:00 pm Friday, October 6, 2023 with a visitation from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 6209 Desmond Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227. Followed by interment at Laurel Cemetery, 5915 Roe St, Cincinnati, OH 45227. On Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10 am. We will meet at Greater Liberty Baptist Church at 9 am.
