Robert Willis Obituary
Robert S. (Flatcoat) Willis died peacefully in Hospice on March 23rd. He was predeceased by his wife Suzanne Elizabeth Willis and sister Mildred ("Babe") Hall Todd. He is survived by his children Jeff Willis (Carolyn)-Charlotte, NC, Wendy Willis Isaacs (Steve)-Phoenix, AZ, Nancy Willis-St Helena, CA, grandchildren Christopher Isaacs, Barbara Reece-Oakland, CA, nephews Bob Todd (Phyllis)-Cincinnati, OH, Dick Todd (Linda)-Dayton, OH. After four years as a navy flier during WW II, Bob worked in the printing business. He bravely created a successful business Willis Graphics at the age of 50 and retired thirty years later. He was married to the love of his life, Sue for 55 memorable years. After her death in 1999 he continued to live an independent and social life in the same house where they had reared their three creative children, Jeff, Wendy and Nancy. Bob and Sue were the hub of an active social life and were loyal friends. Their love of pulling people together could be seen through the naval squadron reunions they created, the parties they hosted and the friendships they nourished for as long as 70 years. Bob was a UC alumni and dedicated UC sports supporter holding season tickets for 58 years. But his real love was his kids and the frequent visits they shared filled with laughter, love and social outings. In his passing as in his life, Bob inspired those who knew him with his courage to remain independent, his youthful curiosity and his love of social rituals. Visitation is at Newcomer Funeral Home 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt Healthy from 11:30 am until funeral service at 12:30 pm, burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Pathway Home at www.thepathwayhome.org-a residential recovery program for veterans. Bob will be deeply missed but his spirit lives on in all those who knew him.
