He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Joe Walters, Jack Walters and Elaine Rice.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Lily "Lee" Walters (nee McKula), his children, Ronald W (Susan) Walters, Jr., Ralph (Donna) Walters, Mark (Teresa) Walters, Kathy (James) Leslie and Karen Rackers. Ron is the grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 12. He will be missed by more friends than you can count!
Ron was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, serving on many committees including Buildings and Grounds Chairman while the church was reconfigured and the "new" gym was added. He carried a huge key ring, and knew what each one opened.
He was a Scouting program executive, providing many years of leadership to Cub Scout Pack 42 and Boy Scout Troop 471. He always helped the Scouts with the Lenten Fish Fry.
In the Mid 70's, Ron and group of parishioners brought back the church festival and evolved it into the Our Lady of Lourdes Family Festival. Ron served as the chairman for many years and then as Chairman Emeritus, working many more years behind the scenes for the other chairperson he groomed. During Festival Set up Week, all the kids who came to help, some for many years, affectionately called Ron, "Grandpa Walters"
Ron was a member of the OLL Men's Club. He was instrumental in organizing the many events including the Fat Tuesday Sauerkraut Super and the Easter Egg Hunt.
He was devoted to his family and others. He and his wife Lee for many years have been foster parents, taking young ones into their home, most often with short notice and not knowing how long they might be staying with them.
Ron was a member of the Archbishop Purcell Council #2798 Knight of Columbus and the St Isaac Jogues Assembly #108, 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus. He usually participated in "Shake the Can" and the Ollie Schmitt Golf Outing, both to support students at Rost School.
He was a Lifetime Member and Instructor for the NRA. He was also a Korean War Veteran. Military Honors will take place at church after the Mass.
