Sandra Lou "Sandy" Helvey

Sandra Lou Helvey, age 79, of Independence, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky on October 15, 1944 to James W. and Adalene Linville (nee Anderson). Sandy loved her garden and was always found taking care of her flowers and bushes in the yard. She enjoyed traveling to new places. Most of all, Sandy, loved her cats; Raven, Sabrina, and Rocky. She was always being followed around the house by a trail of kitties. She was a graduate of Holmes High School, worked as a kindergarten teacher at Florence Christian Church for a few years, and then worked primarily as an administrative assistant for Cincinnati Child Protective Services. Sandy was a loving mom, grandma, and sister, she will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Linville, mother, Adalene Linville, and grandson, Micah Bernard. Sandy is survived by her daughter, Sharlyn (James Lee, Jr.) Bernard, son, Bobby (Tracy) Helvey, son, Joe Helvey, II, sister, Patricia Binder, grandchildren, McKaylee Hardin, Lacey Jo Maley, Megan Bernard, James Dean Bernard; and a host of other family members and friends.
