Sarah Ann Thomas, daughter of the late Will and Elizabeth "Big Mama" Daniels, was born on March 9, 1930 in Hardaway, Alabama. She received her education in the Macon County Public School System. Sarah Ann was the second of six siblings, four of whom have preceded her in death. Sarah Ann accepted her personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Nebraska Missionary Baptist Church in Hardaway, Alabama.
In 1946 while visiting her uncle one summer in Weeksbury, Kentucky Sarah met her late husband Booker T Hildebran, Sr. and from this union they reared 7 children. Being a strong woman with her no non-sense southern hospitality, Sarah Ann continued her journey on to Cincinnati Ohio with her young children. There she joined the Eastern Star Cincinnati Chapter and later became a faithful active member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Sarah was employed with Good Samaritan Hospital until she retired after 23 years of service.
On January 2, 1970, Sarah Ann married Lester Thomas Sr. and from this union the family expanded to 10 children and she also gained a special pet and friend "Rocky." Sarah Ann and Lester looked forward to Saturday morning spending quality time together watching cowboy westerns. And several times a year Sarah Ann and Lester enjoyed traveling the states visiting many family members throughout the south.
Sarah Ann went home to be with the Lord on Friday August 19th, 2011 leaving her family and friends to cherish loving memories and to continue her legacy of faith and love. She leaves to celebrate her life; her loving husband Lester Thomas Sr., five daughters; Joyce Hildebran, Estella Smith (Joseph), Wanda Kincaid (Greg), Faye Boatwright (John), Bertha Shamel, three sons; Booker Hildebran Jr., Larry Hildebran, Lester Thomas Jr. (Bessie), three sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; there were two daughters who preceded her in death; Ruby Hall and Mary Mitchell. She also leaves to celebrate her life; one sister; Ruby Long, one brother; A.C. Daniels, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, April Walker who was recognized as a special daughter and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
