Shirley Jean Calhoun

Shirley Jean Calhoun (nee Hubbs), 78 years of age of Florence, Ky passed away Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, with her family by her side. Shirley was born on February 23, 1943 in Harlan, KY to Walter and Elsie Widener Hubbs.

She was a loving wife of 57 years to Clyde Calhoun. Mother of Tracy Klensch, Donald Calhoun (Mirna), Marcia Kennedy (David) and Stephen Calhoun (Chandra). Grandma to 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sister of Orville Hubbs (Phyllis), Graddie Hubbs (Betty), Lamon Hubbs (Betty), Brenda Bowling (Zollie), Roger Hubbs (Starr), David Hubbs (Viola), Paul Hubbs (Fonda), Tommy Hubbs (Joyce), Dennis Hubbs (Charlotte), aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Roy (Diana), Georgia Faye and Terry Wayne.

For much of her life, Shirley enjoyed cooking and creating beautiful quilts and keepsakes for loved ones and friends. She also found great joy doting on her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and caring for her sweet dog, Dolly. Shirley was a member of Burlington Baptist Church.

Visitation is at Burlington Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at noon. We ask you to please wear a mask. Burial is at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY. Please Note – in an effort to minimize exposure, there will be no meal following the graveside service. Newcomer Funeral Home of Erlanger, Kentucky is handling the arrangements.
