Shirley Straw

Shirley Straw (nee Kornhoff) passed away peacefully at the Seasons of Alexandria on February 15, 2022. Shirley was born on June 12, 1925 to George and Helen Kornhoff. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 54 years, Edmund Straw; her sisters Dorothy and Virginia and brothers George and Raymond. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Melodie (David) Thiel; grandchildren, Julie (Bruce) Teeters, David (Kate) Thiel Jr., Chris (Delaine) Thiel, Allison Thiel and ten great-grandchildren. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and Catholic. She spent 40 years as an Executive Secretary for Colonial Stores in Kentucky, Atlanta and Florida. Shirley loved singing in the choir, music, fashion and the ocean; spending her retirement years in her beloved Belleair Bluffs, Florida.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church (348 Dudley Rd., Edgewood, KY 41017) from 10:00 am until Memorial Mass at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Baptist Life Communities or St. Elizabeth Hospice, both who took loving care of her.
