Singleton Champion, son of Howard Champion Sr. and Marinda Ruff Champion, was born September 12, 1937 in Crawfordville, Georgia. He passed from this life of May 28, 2012. Singleton was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. The family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in the forties and he became a member of Saint Luke Baptist Church in the fifties under the leadership of Reverend C. R. Flint.
Singleton known as "Bob" became ill and moved in with his sister Evangelist Mattie Champion Whaley in 1995. He became a member of Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church on March 28, 1999.
His father, mother and three sisters: Mary Champion (Evans), Connie Champion, Estella Champion, (Jones) and one brother Howard Champion Jr. preceded him in death.
In loving memory, he leaves to mourn; one brother Gregory Champion, four sisters: Essie Strayhorn, Mattie Whaley, Choyce Malone, and Ruth Champion-Hughes. Four Brothers-in-law: Reverend Bennie Strayhorn, Bishop Andrew Whaley Sr., Clarence Malone, and James Hughes. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
