Tommy gave his life to the Lord at a young age. He joined the deacon ministry at Inspirational Baptist Church and he entered into fellowship with many churches, like Crossroads, Bright Start Baptist Church, Faith World and Landmark Church, to name a few. Thomas always put the Lord first in everything he did. Thomas McClendon attended Cincinnati Public School and graduated from Cutter High School. His first job was in construction with his father, he was a man of many trades. He joined the United States Army in 1976. He later went to truck driving school to get his CDL and drove for different trucking companies and eventually retired from Swift. He loved to share his trucking stories with everyone.
Tommy's refreshing smile, cool demeanor, and positive spirit will be missed. He enjoyed family reunions, holiday dinners with family, swimming, riding his bike, fishing, and horseback riding in Tennessee. He loved to listen to Jazz and R & B music, as well as Gospel. In his younger years, he was very athletic and played football and baseball. Some of his favorite past times were having lunch with his Aunt Earlene and talking to his Aunt Eloise on the phone everyday, breakfast dates with family, attending his families' plays, like his daughter's musicals while she was in high school and attending his great niece's concerts and plays. He also loved to support his grandson's little league games and witnessing his granddaughter's wedding.
If Tommy were here, he would let us know...I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith - 2 Timothy 4:7.
Tommy's funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 29th, 2020 at Landmark Church, 1600 Glendale Milford Road at 1:00PM.
