Timothy S. Scanlon, Sr.

September 28, 1953 — January 7, 2025

Union

Timothy S. Scanlon, Sr., age 71, of Union, Kentucky, passed away on January 7, 2025. He was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico, on September 28, 1953, to Robert "Bob" A. and Erma "Louise" Scanlon (nee Ebeling).

Tim was the eldest son and shared a remarkable bond with his mother. In the 1960s you could find Tim on stage with his band playing the drums. He was a proud graduate of Springfield Catholic Central High School in 1971, and had a passion for fast cars early in life, particularly his beloved '65 Chevy Impala Super Sport 396. Tim's dedication to his country was evident as he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1978. During his service, he climbed MMF and he demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities and was offered a Warrant Officer position, which he graciously declined to return home to his family. His commitment to excellence continued throughout his career, where Tim became a top salesman, imparting his knowledge and skills to his sons.

A devoted sports fan, Tim cherished spending time with his family, whether listening to the Cincinnati Reds on 700 WLW or enjoying a Cincinnati Bengals game. His love for golf created many wonderful memories shared with loved ones. A day did not go by where Tim didn't quote Seinfeld when faced with one of life's awkward decisions. Tim's faith journey was significant; he grew up at St. Raphael Catholic Church as a faithful altar boy attending Mass 6 days a week. As an adult he was curious about his beliefs and in his later years, he reaffirmed the importance of faith in his life, often speaking of his need for God's presence. He described his wife of 19 years, Karen, as an angel, and together they faced life's challenges with devotion and love.

Tim is preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bob" A. Scanlon; brothers, Keith and Terrance Scanlon; brother-in-law, Mark Maynard; and his faithful companion, Brownie.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen J. Scanlon (nee Lade); mother, Erma "Louise" Scanlon; sons, Timothy S. (Aida) Scanlon, Jr., Vincent P. (Jamie) Scanlon, Nicholas E. (Melanie) Scanlon; daughter, Kristen (Jason) Keagy; grandchildren, Bailey P. (Olivia Dunham) Scanlon, Riley "Rudy" R. Scanlon, Nathaniel "Nathan" C. Scanlon, Boston J. Scanlon, Isaac A. Scanlon, Stephen "Finn" T. Scanlon, Tyler "Ty" J. Scanlon; great-grandchild, Ava K. Scanlon; brothers, Kevin (Nancy) Scanlon, Dennis (Sue) Scanlon, Darron (Deborah) Scanlon; sisters, Colleen Maynard, Kathleen (Dale) Spada; sisters-in-law, Kim Scanlon, Valerie Scanlon; and numerous other family members and friends.

In memory of Tim, memorial contributions may be made to his wife, Karen, to help defray from everyday expenses during this difficult time.
