Verlin B."Andy" Anderson

ANDERSON, Verlin B. "Andy", age 86 of Cincinnati, formerly of Champaign, Illinois passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 11, 2016. He was born in Santa Ana California on May 16, 1929 the son of the late Verlin B. and Myrtle (Meacham) Anderson Sr. Andy served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Chanute Field. During this time he met Mary Lou Rindt and they were married in 1957. He lived in Champaign for many years before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio in 2010. Andy retired from the University of Illinois where he was an Inventory Specialist in the Physics and MRL departments. He spent his retirement traveling and was an avid golfer. Andy enjoyed woodworking, adding many custom items to the family home and built several pieces of furniture. He never met a stranger. Andy enjoyed the company of many friends over his lifetime, including co-workers, golf buddies, neighbors, residents and staff of The New England Club.

Andy was the loving husband of the late, Mary Lou (Rindt) Anderson; devoted father of, Cindy (Albert) Mitchell of Maroa, Illinois and Debby (Randy) Cowles of Cincinnati, Ohio; his two grandchildren, Melissa Mitchell (Nick) Crozier of Urbana, Illinois and Hollie Mitchell (Cory) Kennedy of Sterling, Colorado; his three great-grandchildren, Braydon, Keeley and Cade Cozier of Urbana, Illinois; his sister, Sherrill Vander Bush of California; and his beloved cats, Milo and Mia.

Funeral service will be held at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive W., Savoy, IL. 61874 on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main Street, Urbana, IL. 61802.
