Walter W. Redmon was born on August 24, 1924 in Jackson, Georgia. He was one of four children born to Nelson Redmon and Annie (Taylor) Redmon.
He departed this life on July 20, 2015. His parents relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio when he was very young. He attended Stowe School and later graduated from Hughes High School.
He was united in marriage to Juanita Johnson and from this union one daughter was born Norma Jean Redmon. Juanita preceded him in death. He later married Juanita Gordon who also preceded him in death.
Walter served in the United States Army in World War II. He received (2) Bronze Medals and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for the Cincinnati Public School System for 30+ years and after retiring he worked for WCET Channel 48 for 12 years.
He has been a member of Revelation Baptist Church for over 50 years. He has served in many capacities. He was formerly a member of the Senior Choir and later was appointed to the Deacon Board. More recently he was serving on the Trustee Board and working with the Repast Committee.
Walter had a zest for life and was a humorous individual who made light of difficult situations. His passion was music, especially jazz and opera. He was a generous person who was always willing to help others.
Walter leaves to celebrate the memory of his life: one daughter, Norma Jean Brown; one brother, Franklin D. Redmon; two grandchildren, George R. Ellis III (Vanesa) and Tatia L. Ellis-Chappell; nine great-grandchildren: Ebony, Derika, George IV, George V, David, Justin and Nathan Ellis; DeAuna and Desire' Chappell; two great-great grandchildren; Makai Taylor and Nehemiah Boozer. Two god-sons; Elvin M. Ward (Cincinnati) and Albert Harris (Atlanta, Ga); along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2015 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Revelation Missionary Baptist Church, 1556 John Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45214.
