Obituary
Ward Andrew Garrabrant, age 71, of Colerain Township, died March 23, 2012. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War years, he earned a Master's in Electrical Engineering, designing industrial automation control for PPG Fiberglass, Hercules Chemical, Fisher Control, Monsanto, Jacobs Engineering, and the Fernald Environmental Cleanup. After retiring in 2005, he volunteered as an AARP tax preparer, and a Red Cross Volunteer following Hurricane Katrina. He was a stamp collector and he sang bass in the St. James Episcopal Church Choir.
Ward and his wife enjoyed traveling and hosting internationally through
the Friendship Force and IVC, and belonged to the Welsh Society of
Greater Cincinnati.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Olson Garrabrant; children, Andrew (Ellen) Garrabrant of Maidens, Virginia, and Hanna Garrabrant Wells Lange of Richmond, Virginia; step-children, Kimberly Vogt of Phoenix, Arizona, Johnny Olsa IV of Nashville, Tennessee, and Aaron (Victoria) Olsa of Tashkent, Uzbekistan; grandchildren, Ian Garrabrant, Elisha May, Dakota, Samantha, and Kalinda Wells, and Olivia Lange; step-grandchildren, Kyra and Jared Vogt, Jennifer Olsa, Scion Predmore, Gabriel, Aidan, and Lucas Olsa; a great-granddaughter, Breann Vogt; and a great-grandson on the way, Jackson Vogt.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2 p.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church Westwood, 3207 Montana Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cancer Support Community, 4918 Cooper Road, Blue Ash, Ohio 45242.
