Morgan, William Richard age 95, of Wyoming, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio on March 27, 1922 to Wilbur A. and Treva Beatrice Morgan (nee Minto).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Morgan. William is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Marjorie Eleanor Morgan (nee Stevens); daughter, Carol Marjean (John) Dingledy; son, William Richard (Diane) Morgan, Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew Dingledy, Kathleen (Jon) Gratz; great-grandchildren, Skylar Dingledy, Will Dingledy, Adalynn Dingledy, Ian Dingledy, Morgan Gratz, and Michael Gratz.
William was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Guernsey Lodge No. 0066, Cambridge, OH. He was a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and he was a member of the American Legion Post 0530 in Greenhills.
He served in the Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant J.G. from August 1944 to August 1946.
William was a member of several professional associations including the Engineering Society of Cincinnati, Acoustical Society of America, Institute of Noise Control Engineering, Noise Research Panel, and the Aircraft Noise Abatement Program.
His education and work history began with receiving his PhD from Purdue University. He was an instructor at Purdue University, then worked for Curtiss Wright Corporation as a Power Plant Design Engineer before moving on to General Electric where he held several positions including Controls Analysis & Development Manager, Advanced Propulsion Systems Manager, Acoustic Engineering Manager and Quiet Engine Program Manager. After leaving GE he worked for SDRC (Structural Dynamics Research Corporation) as International VP.
Funeral Ceremony will be 4:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2017 with a visitation from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Interment will follow on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge, Ohio.
