On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, William "Bill" Raymond, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 87.
Bill was born on September 3rd, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Louise Vondenberger. He joined the Navy in 1955 and served as a radar operator on a submarine tender. On June 27, 1957, he married Barbara Gers. They raised 3 sons, Billy, Bernie, and Bruce, and one daughter, Barbette.
Bill always put his family first and sacrificed to provide for them. He worked for years as a third shift supervisor at the bulk mail center in Cincinnati where he retired as a level 22 postal worker. At family gatherings Bill was surrounded by the family pets and was an amazing dog whisperer affectionately known as Daddy Bill. In the late nineties and 2000's, Bill could be found at Northgate Mall managing photographic promotions for the Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus, followed by several years managing the Christmas and Back to School train. Bill never knew a stranger and was known for his sense of humor, infectious laugh and smile. He was truly kind and compassionate to everyone he met.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Louise, his loving wife Barbara, his eldest son Billy, his grandson Zack, and his brother Bobby. He is survived by his sons Bernie, Bruce (Shirley), and his daughter Barbette (Andy), along with 5 grandchildren Nathan, Eva, Brigit, Ben, and Hunter.
A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends.
