William Chester Smith

William Chester Smith, age 85, of Georgetown, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 1 , 2024. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 27, 1939, he was the cherished son of Chester and Martha Smith (nee Richardson).

William is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Martha Smith; brother Robert Daniel Smith. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Elva Smith (nee Marriott), and their family, including sons Larry (Sandy) Smith, Barry (Tina) Smith, Jerry (Melinda) Smith, and Gary (Sandy) Smith. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and sister, Barbara VonRohr and a host of other family members and friends.

A man of deep faith, William was incredibly devoted to his church and cherished his family. Those who knew him often shared, "I wish everyone had the chance to meet him," as he greeted everyone with warmth and a big hug.

A funeral ceremony to honor William's life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with a visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church, located at 2696 OH-131, Batavia, OH 45103.
