Willie Jackson

Willie Ed Jackson, age 97 of Cincinnati passed away at Heartland Mt. Airy Nursing Home Hospice on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 4:42 AM. He was born in Atmore, Alabama on October 19, 1913 the son of Joseph and Annie (Robinson) Jackson. Willie attended Escambia Training school where he studied Carpentry for 5 years. He worked as a longshoreman at the state docks in Mobil, Alabama for most of his young adult life. He married Ella Fair Jefferson and they had two daughters, Dolores Robinson of Minnesota and Alice Faye, who preceded him in death.

Dolores Robinson had four children; Damien, Laneshia, Danny, and Latoya. Damien had two sons and one daughter; Laneshia had three sons; and Danny had two sons and one daughter. Willie had four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren descended from his first marriage to Ella Fair Jefferson Jackson.

In the mid 1940's Willie moved to Cincinnati where he met his second wife Margaret Sales in 1948. Three children were born to them; Valerie Jean - 7/19/52, Veronica Ann- 8/13/56, and Daniel Leroy- 11/26/57. He also helped to raise his step-children, Victoria Ruth and Duane Bartholomew Weems. He also had four brothers; Joseph Jr., Nathaniel, Richard, and Albert; three sisters, Lucy, Alberta, and Annie Louise.

Willie worked for many years at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company and the Netherland Hilton Hotel. He was baptized into the Shiloh Seventh-day Adventist Church by Elder Willie Lewis in 1975 where he was a very faithful member for the rest of his life. He loved to attend Sabbath School and participating in Elder Jesse Conner's class. His favorite Hymn was "When We All Get to Heaven."

Willie and Margaret had eleven grandchildren; Deaca, Brandon, Duane Jr., DaShawn, Michah, Amanda, Solomon, Carla, Celeste, Olajuwon, and Mustafa. There are fourteen great-grandchildren; Maya, Mariah, Isaiah, Isis, Joshua, Duane III, Dominick, Jessica, Kiana, Samuel, Ethan, Asad, Maceo, and Madison; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Willie will be missed greatly but, we look forward to meeting him again when he is awakened by the MASTER.

Graveside services will be held at the Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave., Cinti., OH. 45232, on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Harcourt King officiating.
