Yvonne Peels
March 22, 1931 — July 7, 2023
Yvonne F. Peels (nee Maurits) of Mt. Healthy passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the age of 92. Born in The Netherlands, Yvonne fled to the United States after World War II. She became a U.S. citizen, settling in Cincinnati, Ohio where she and her husband shared their dedication and love for the country that liberated them. Yvonne worked in the medical field, beginning at Jewish Hospital and ultimately retiring from the former Drake Center where she made lifelong friends - both in colleagues and patients. She now rejoins her beloved husband, Adrianus who preceded her in death as well as her large family including parents: Franciscus & Maria Maurits (nee deLeeuw), eight brothers: Paulus, Petrus, Emile, Johannes, Cornelis, Henricus, Gerardus, & Antonius, and two sisters: Dimphna & Josephina.
Yvonne is survived by her two children: Andrew Peels & Michelle (Bill) Sexton, four grandchildren: Stephanie (AJ) Rader, Monica Rankin, Victoria Shortt, and Alex Peels, as well as three great-grandchildren: Aidan, Adriana, and Madison. She is also survived by a large number of extended family members and cherished friends.
Yvonne loved her family, her coffee Tuesdays with her Dutch-American friends, her music, bargain shopping, cooking, sewing, knitting, sitting outside, and visiting with neighbors. She was a fierce and feisty woman even at barely 5-feet tall. She loved a good laugh and was a phenomenal host. She was also a devoted Cincinnati fan - always rooting for her Bengals, Reds, Bearcats and FC Cincinnati (unless The Netherlands was playing, in which case it was "ons oranje!"). Rest in peace, Oma.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati (45211) from 5:30 until 7:30 PM
In memory of Yvonne, memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn Street, Cincinnati (45203) or Dementia Society of America, 188 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA (18901)
